UV and bright light are used for visual inspection to make particles and organic contamination (more) visible. With UV light, wavelength 365 nm, organic particles from 40-50 mu are visible, and with bright light, non-organic particles from 10-20 mu are visible. Visible particles are permitted to a limited extent for milder cleanliness requirements, but not at all for the most stringent requirements.
