For the time being, particle validation is mainly qualitative, using visual inspection under bright and/or UV light conditions. However, we are seeing a trend towards recording these measurements in reports and a decrease in the particle size to be measured.

If quantitative validation is required, particles on the surface can be measured using PCM samples and a particle analysis device.

This particle meter (Partsens) can even register particles down to 5μm, whereas the naked eye can only see particles down to 20-30μm.

With a PMC test, we can take a sample from the surface of a product, after which this sample is analyzed for particle count and size. The result of the particle measurement can be expressed quantitatively in terms of the number of particles per surface area, including a report.
